Topic Papers

WE NEED YOUR INPUT!  The Consortium has begun drafting a series of topic papers that outline various aspects of food security in Wisconsin.  These DRAFT documents briefly describe the major features of Wisconsin’s food security landscape as it exists today in four major areas: (1) federal nutrition programs, (2) community-based programs, (3) access to retail markets and healthy food; and (4) family economic security.

Each paper offers an overview of a specific program or topic area, such as Wisconsin FoodShare, that includes basic structure, statistics, positive developments, and major challenges & problems.  The papers are intended to catalyze a statewide dialog that will identify creative, effective, and specific steps we can take to measurably reduce hunger and food insecurity among our residents.  These topic papers, when completed with your input, will help focus discussion among participants at the October 4th Hunger Summit in Stevens Point.  Summit attendees will help craft a statewide “Action Plan to Reduce Hunger in Wisconsin”.

We are asking for your input in shaping these papers so they reflect the diverse experiences and insights of our anti-hunger community in Wisconsin.  For each topic paper we specifically need your input and feedback on three areas: (1) Positive Developments & Trends; (2) Challenges & Problems; and (3) Suggestions for Changes (This Program Would Be Better If…).

Please read the topic papers below that interest you.  If you would like to provide feedback, please click on the "provide input" button next to the relevant paper.  We’ll send out emails to alert you as more papers are added but we encourage you to check back periodically.

Thanks for your input and your help to end hunger in Wisconsin!!
